Autographed Tar Heel Items Available in WNBA Breast Cancer Auction

New York, N.Y. -- Continuing an effort that has raised over $2 million for breast health awareness, the WNBA is announcing the sixth annual Breast Health Auction on WNBA.com, with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Items autographed by Marvin Williams and Raymond Felton are now available, and an official NBA basketball signed by Williams, Felton, Sean May and Rashad McCants goes up for bid starting on Wednesday.
The Komen Foundation is one of the nation's largest private funding sources for breast cancer research and community outreach programs. The WNBA Breast Health Auction will run July 5 through July 19 with new items added throughout.
The WNBA.com auction features a variety of unique WNBA items, including games of H.O.R.S.E. with WNBA stars including the Seattle Storm's Sue Bird. This year's auction also features autographed items from the top five 2005 WNBA Draft selections Janel McCarville (Charlotte Sting), Tan White (Indiana Fever), Sandora Irvin (Phoenix Mercury), Kendra Wecker (San Antonio Silver Stars) and Sancho Lyttle (Houston Comets) along with items from the top five 2005 NBA Draft selections Andrew Bogut (Milwaukee), Marvin Williams (Atlanta), Deron Williams (Utah), Chris Paul (New Orleans) and Raymond Felton (Charlotte).
"Through this auction, in-arena awareness nights and other events throughout the season, the WNBA and its players are bringing attention to this important cause and raising funds that are needed for research and education efforts," said Kathy Behrens Senior Vice President NBA Community and Player Programs.

The WNBA Breast Health Awareness program focuses on generating awareness and educating women about breast cancer in addition to raising funds for the initiative. For the third year, the WNBA is proud to have the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as a partner and beneficiary of the program.
