CHAPEL HILL – No. 2 North Carolina took care of Oregon on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory during the first day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend play at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The Tar Heels (3-0) began the matchup with the Ducks (2-2) by claiming the doubles point.

Chloe Ouellet-Pizer and Rachael James-Baker cruised to a 6-2 victory on court 3. Oregon answered on court 2 with a 6-3 win, leaving the doubles decision up to court one.

Carolina's Hayley Carter and Sara Daavettila took a 4-3 lead with a service break of Oregon and went on to win the next two games to take the match 6-3, clinching the doubles point for the Tar Heels.

In singles, Carolina started strong by taking the first set on all six courts. No. 3 Sara Daavettila took the first singles match, defeating Nia Rose 6-0, 6-1 on court 2 to put the Tar Heels up 2-0. On court 4, No. 44 Alexa Graham added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Julia Eshet to put Carolina one point away from the victory.

No. 9 Jessie Aney sealed the match for the Tar Heels, battling to a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Alyssa Tobita.

The Tar Heels will face No. 17 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday after the Longhorns' victory over Columbia. The match will take place following the 9:30 a.m. consolation match between Columbia and Oregon.
