The University of North Carolina men's golf team shot a 10-over-par 298 and is tied for 11th place after two rounds at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at the Isleworth Country Club.
 
Ben Griffin led the Tar Heels with a second-round 73. Austin Hitt, William Register and Jose Montaño each shot 75 and Preyer Fountain posted a 77.
 
Griffin and Fountain enter Tuesday's third and final round tied for 34th place at 3-over 147. Register is tied for 43rd at +4, Montaño is tied for 64th at +8 and Hitt is tied for 71st at +9.
 
The Tar Heels are tied with Arizona State for 11th place. Illinois leads the team competition by two strokes over Florida. The Illini are at -11, the Gators at -9, California is third at -2, Vanderbilt follows at -1 and Auburn is fifth at 3 over.
 
Illinois' Dylan Meyer has shot 67-66 for a two-round total of 11-under 133. He leads a pair of Florida golfers – Gordon Neale and John Axelsen – by six strokes.
