Cross Country Announces 2019 Schedule
August 16, 2019 | Cross Country
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of North Carolina men's and women's cross country teams released their upcoming 2019 season schedule on Thursday.
"We're excited that this season's race schedule fits with our goals of preparing to run our very best at the ACC, Regional and NCAA Championships," director of track & field and cross country Chris Miltenberg said. "Seeing both the ACC and Regional courses early in the season is great preparation for championship season and traveling to Notre Dame and Pre-Nationals puts us against the best competition in the NCAA, which is the level we aim to compete at over this season and into the future."
Carolina will open the season on August 30 at the Elon Opener in Elon, N.C. before heading north for Virginia's Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va. on September 14.
The teams will top off the regular season with two weekends in Indiana, competing at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on October 4 in South Bend, Ind. and wrapping up at the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. on October 19.
The Tar Heels will kick off the postseason in Blacksburg, Va. for the ACC Cross Country Championships hosted by Virginia Tech on November 1. Student-athletes could then have a chance to head back to Virginia for the NCAA Southeast Regional in Charlottesville on November 15. The 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held in Terre Haute at Indiana State on November 23.
