Quick Kicks
• Rachel Jones was impressive in the season-opener. The junior netted a pair of goals and recorded an assist on a goal from Brianna Pinto. The two goals were a career-high for Jones. For her efforts, she earned TopDrawerSoccer's Player of the Week.
• Brianna Pinto has been electric through two games, scoring in both while earning a .714 shot on goal percentage.
• Aleigh Gambone found Hallie Klanke for her first goal of the season in the second half against Wake Forest. After a nice touch after the pass, Klanke chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head from the right side of the box.
• The Tar Heels claimed a hard-earned 1-0 win against Virginia Tech on Sunday. UNC had a pair of goals called back because of offsides calls, but the Tar Heels won by their lowest scoring margin against Virginia Tech in 2015.
• This afternoon is UNC's first ranked matchup of the 2020 season. Last season, North Carolina finished 9-0-1 against ranked foes.
• North Carolina has been clicking on all cylinders through two games. The Tar Heels have outshot opponents 39-7 and have recorded 21 shots on goal compared to foes' four.
• Carolina won its 23rd ACC tournament in 2019 with a 2-1 double overtime victory over Virginia. The Tar Heels captured the regular season ACC championship as well, the 23rd time in program history.
