Doubles Features All-Carolina Final On Monday

CHAPEL HILL - It will be an all-North Carolina affair in the finals of the doubles draw on Monday at the ITA Carolinas Regional from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Tar Heel teammates Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham will take on Alle Sanford and Sara Daavettila at 10 a.m.
The winner will advance to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 1-5, in Indian Wells, California. Sanford has already qualified in the singles bracket by virtue of winning the Oracle ITA Masters back in September.Â
38th ranked Sanford and Daavettila defeated top seed Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin of NC State, 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, No. 12 Aney and Graham defeated another Carolina duo featuring Makenna Jones and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer, 6-1, 6-4.
The doubles final begins Monday at 4 p.m.
In the singles bracket, No. 4 Daavettila defeated second seed/#57 Kaitlyn McCarthy of Duke by scores of 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals, but was later upended in the semifinals by another Duke opponent, No. 54 Samantha Harris in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.
