The team's annual event raises donations for the fight against breast cancer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina rowing team will erg for a cause on Wednesday, setting up its rowing machines (aka ergometers) in the middle of the UNC campus to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
The Tar Heels' annual Erg-a-Thon is scheduled for Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., adjacent to Davis Library and The Pit. In addition to Carolina rowers and coxswains, community members are invited to stop by and row.
"I think this event really embodies our team's commitment to serving the community," said Caeli Harr, a senior on the rowing team and the lead organizer of this year's event. "There is something so special in being a part of an event that helps raise money in the fight against breast cancer."
All of the proceeds will support breast cancer research at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Also on Wednesday, Carolina Athletics will show its support for the Erg-a-Thon and the fight against cancer by turning the department pink. Teams will sport the shade at their practices and workouts that day as coaches and staffers wear pink to work.
