Tar Heels Make Semis In Singles And Doubles

Sophomore William Blumberg reached the singles semifinals and he and teammate Robert Kelly earned a spot in the doubles semifinals with stellar play on Saturday at the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Blumberg, the No. 4 seed, won two singles matches Saturday, beating Oklahoma's Ferran Calvo 6-4, 7-5 in the Round of 16 and then NC State's Alexis Galarneau 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Sunday he'll face Ohio State's Mikael Torpegaard, the top seed in the draw, in a semifinal match scheduled for 10 a.m. Central.

Blumberg and Kelly advanced with a victory over Yuya Ito and Harrison Scott of Texas, fighting back to take the second set after dropping the first and then winning the tiebreaker 10-4. They'll face Baylor's Will Little and Johannes Schretter Sunday afternoon in the semifinals.
