Graham, Sanford Pick Up Wins At Fall Championships

PALM DESERT, California - North Carolina's Alexa Graham and Alle Sanford recorded first round singles victories on Wednesday at the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championship.
Graham, the 42nd ranked sophomore from Garden City, New York, took down No. 10 Elena Christofi of Georgia in a three-set thriller, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.
Sanford, the No. 5 seeded singles player, outlasted No. 39 Petra Granic of Texas in another lengthy first-round match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Both players will have second round matches on Thursday morning.
