Surgery Today for Grad Student
University of North Carolina guard Cameron Johnson suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, an injury he suffered in practice on Monday, Nov. 13.
Â
Johnson underwent surgery at UNC Hospitals on Wednesday afternoon. Surgery went well, and Johnson is expected to miss four to six weeks of action.
Â
The Moon Township, Pa., native joined the UNC Basketball program prior to this season after playing for three seasons and graduating with honors from the University of Pittsburgh.
Â
"I'm extremely disappointed for Cameron," says head coach Roy Williams. "The young man has been working hard to blend in with our team after being such a productive college player the last two-plus seasons."
Â
Johnson missed the season opener on Nov. 10 against UNI due to a sprained neck. The injuries are not related.
Â
He started every game for the Panthers last season and averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in more than 33 minutes a game.
Â
Also, sophomore guard Brandon Robinson will not play tonight against Bucknell. He sprained his right shoulder in the UNI game last Friday. Robinson scored two points and had three assists in 16 minutes of action in the opener.
