Blumberg Named To ITA Collegiate All-Star Team

Tar Heel sophomore William Blumberg is No. 2 in the final ITA singles rankings of the fall, and he and senior Robert Kelly are ranked No. 3 in doubles.

The ITA released its rankings update on Wednesday. To see the entire singles and doubles lists, click here. The rankings are the first new ones since the preseason rankings on Sept. 12. The next ones will be on Jan. 3, at the start of the spring season.

Blumberg, from Greenwich, Conn., is the only sophomore in the top five in singles and is one of just two Atlantic Coast Conference players in the top 10. Two other Tar Heel sophomores appear in the top 80 in singles, Simon Soendergaard at No. 70 and Josh Peck at No. 79. Kelly, the team's only senior, is at No. 94.

In October, Blumberg became the first North Carolina player to win the ITA Men's All-American Championship, defeating UCLA's Martin Redlicki in straight sets. Blumberg and Kelly finished as runners-up in doubles.
