Griffin One Back at Sun Bowl All-America Classic

Second-Round 64 Tied for Best Round
University of North Carolina senior Ben Griffin shot a bogey-free 64 in the second of two rounds on Monday and stands one shot off the lead at 10-under-par with 18 holes to play in the Andeavor Sun Bowl All-America Classic.

The Chapel Hill native and ACC Player of the Month for October shot a 3-under 68 in Monday's opening round and followed that with seven birdies and no bogeys in the afternoon session.

The Sun Bowl Classic is being played at the El Paso Country Club and features 30 of the top-rated collegiate golfers in the country.

Texas's Doug Ghim (67-64) and Texas Tech's Hurly Long (65-66) are tied for the lead at 11 under, one ahead of Griffin and Vanderbilt's Will Gordon (66-66). Griffin's and Ghim's 64s are the low rounds of the event.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday. Griffin tied for second place in putting and was ninth in the long drive contest in the skills showdown on Sunday.
