Tar Heels face Fordham in Elite 8 Saturday

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The North Carolina Tar Heels will take on Fordham in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. ET at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. This is the first ever meeting between the two programs and the Tar Heels eighth time in the last 10 years it has reached the quarterfinals, more than any other program in the country.

History with Fordham
This will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. Fordham is 14-5-3 on the season and recorded its first ever wins in the NCAA Championship with victories over St. Francis Brooklyn and Virginia in the first two rounds, and advanced on penalty kicks against Duke.

• With its win against SMU, the Tar Heels secured its 8th trip to the Elite 8 in the last 10 years, the most of any program during that time. Maryland is second with 6.
• UNC now has 22 wins in the NCAA Championship in the last 10 years, that's more than any other program in the country. Maryland is second with 20.
• If UNC advances to the Men's College Cup it will be the first time it went back-to-back since the Tar Heels went four times in a row from 2008-2011.
