CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina's Marika Akkerman continued her strong performance in the 14^th annual Kitty Harrison Invitational by picking up a victory in singles and doubles on Saturday, the second day of the tournament, at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

In addition to Akkerman, Chloe Ouellet-Pizer also claimed both a singles win and a doubles victory.

The Tar Heels faced South Carolina in doubles to begin the day. Akkerman and Ouellet-Pizer topped Davies and Chinellato 8-3 while Maggie Kane and Cassandra Vazquez fell to Berg and Rohrabacher 8-3.

Against Penn State in singles, the Tar Heels swept the Nittany Lions. Akkerman claimed the 6-1, 6-4 victory over Svarre. Ouellet-Pizer beat Smith 6-1, 6-4. Vazquez earned a win over Wikberg 6-0, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7). Kane came out on top over Milosevic 6-3, 6-2.

The Tar Heels wrap up their Kitty Harrison Invitational campaign by facing old-time rival Maryland in singles at 11 a.m. Sunday morning. The event concludes in the afternoon.
