Jamboree For Disaster Relief Quotes
November 5, 2017 | Men's Basketball
Head Coach Roy Williams on the Jamboree:
"It was really important to me and it was more special because it was the three guys sitting up here (ECU head coach Jeff Lebo, UNCG head coach Wes Miller and UNCW head coach C.B. McGrath). They helped recruit and helped coach and I recruited and coached every one of them and loved every moment."
Â
"I've got guys working for me now that are unbelievable. All three of these guys here are what makes this more special to me than anything else. We had a lot of people that would have enjoyed playing an exhibition game against us but having these three guys here was the most important part to me because Jeff, C.B. and Wes are just fantastic people."
Â
On the last game against UNCW
"I feel sorry for C.B. (McGrath) because I got ticked off after the second game and got on their rear ends and then all of a sudden we had guys diving on the floor instead of watching Wes's guys dive on the floor (in the previous game), so C.B. you can be mad at Wes about something else."
Â
On still trying to figure out lineups
"It is hard right now because we don't have Joel (Berry II). I think we are a little bit of a better basketball team with Joel Berry out there. Most people are picking him all-conference or even some talking All-American, but I wanted to play everybody and I think it was important for me to get them out there. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are going to be big days to see who plays on Friday (season opener vs. Northern Iowa) because it is not an equal opportunity thing. You get to play if you play better."Â
Â
Â
UNCG head coach Wes Miller on his brother, Walker, playing at UNC:
"That is really special for our family. First off we are really proud he is playing for coach. We just know he is in incredible hands and he's going to have an incredible experience, but we are really proud of him."
