Tar Heels Visit Davidson In Charlotte Friday

• Carolina is 6-1 and plays at Davidson on Friday, Dec. 1st, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Game time is 8 p.m. (ESPN2).
• Carolina is ranked 13th by the Associated Press and 11th by the coaches. Davidson is unranked.
• UNC defeated Michigan 86-71 on Nov. 29th at home in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
• Davidson is 3-2. The Wildcats are coming of an 85-70 win over Charlotte on Nov. 28th.
• Both teams are averaging better than 85 points per contest (86.6 by Davidson, 85.0 by the Tar Heels).
• Davidson averages 21.8 assists and 13.8 three-pointers per game. Carolina is averaging 18.3 assists and 7.0 threes a game.

• Justin Jackson tied his career high with 27 points and set a career high with seven three-point field goals made.
• Luke Maye had then-career-highs in points (10) and steals (3) and tied his career best with six rebounds. He scored all 10 points and grabbed all six boards in the opening half.
• Carolina shot 37.7 percent from the floor, but made 10 three-pointers (two more than Davidson) and out-scored the Wildcats by nine from the free throw line.
• Joel Berry II and Theo Pinson did not play due to injuries.

NOV. 29, CHAPEL HILL
• The Tar Heels improved to 10-9 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including 10-5 under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina had assists on 17 of its first 21 field goals and finished with a season-high 24 assists (on 34 hoops).
• Carolina has scored 86 or more points in each of its six wins this year.
• Carolina improved to 196-15 against non-ACC teams in the Smith Center.
• Carolina shot 64.5 percent from the floor (20x31) in the first half, its highest percentage in any half this year.
• Carolina shot a season-high 54.8 percent from the floor for the game, the fourth time in five games UNC has shot 50 percent or better.
• Luke Maye scored 20-plus points for the fifth time in the first seven games with a game-high 27, one off his career high.

LUKE MAYE OFF TO HOT START
• Junior forward Luke Maye leads Carolina in scoring (20.1), rebounding (9.4), field goals made and attempted (57 for 103), blocks (7) and minutes (31.4).
• Maye is second in the ACC in scoring and fifth in rebounding.
• Maye has scored 20 or more points in five of Carolina's first seven games and has 25 or more points three times.
• Maye is the first Tar Heel to score 25 or more points in three of his first seven games in a season since Tyler Hansbrough did it four times in 2008-09.
• Prior to this season Maye scored in double figures six times with a high of 17 points.
• Maye became the first Tar Heel to score 100 points (106) and grab 50 rebounds (54) in the first five games since Antawn Jamison had 103 points and 55 rebounds in 1996-97.
• Maye was selected to the all-tournament team in the Victory bracket at the PK80 Invitational.

• Senior point guard Joel Berry II is second on the team in scoring with a career-high 15.3 points per game.
• Berry broke a bone in his right hand in mid-October and did not play in the season opener against UNI. He returned to practice on Nov. 12 and played 30 minutes in the win over Bucknell on Nov. 15.
• Berry made five three-pointers and scored 29 points (his second-highest career output) in the win at Stanford on Nov. 20.
• Berry has 1,288 points. He is 47th in UNC history in scoring.

• Berry was the Most Outstanding Player at the 2017 Final Four and the Most Valuable Player at the 2016 ACC Tournament. James Worthy and Berry are the only Tar Heels to win both of those awards.

CAMERON JOHNSON ON THE MEND
• Cameron Johnson is out four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on Nov. 15 to repair a torn meniscus.
• Johnson suffered the injury in practice on Nov. 13. He did not play in the season opener against Northern Iowa after spraining his neck in practice on 11/7.
• He led UNC with 18 points in 16 minutes in the "jamboree" vs. ECU, UNCG and UNCW on Nov. 5 and had 11 in the exhibition against Barton on Oct. 27.
• Johnson averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last year as a Pitt Panther. He shot 44.7 percent from three-point range.
• Johnson matched his career high with 24 points against the Tar Heels in the Smith Center on 1/31/17.
