Tar Heels Announce 2018 Men's Lacrosse Schedule
December 15, 2017 | Men's Lacrosse
UNC will play eight home games in Kenan Stadium
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Head Coach Joe Breschi of the University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program announced a challenging 2018 men's lacrosse schedule Friday. The Tar Heels will continue to play the nation's best teams following a 2017 ACC championship season in which the Tar Heels made an 11th successive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Tar Heels have made the NCAA Tournament in all of Breschi's nine seasons at the helm of his alma mater's men's lacrosse team. In addition, UNC has won ACC Tournament titles in 2013 and 2017 under Breschi's tutelage.
UNC will open with three straight home games before heading to Johns Hopkins for a Friday night game at Homewood Field on February 23. UNC will again host three home games in a row capped by a contest against 2017 NCAA semifinalist Denver on March 5.
UNC will travel over Spring Break to Hofstra and Richmond and then take 10 days off before traveling across the country to meet defending NCAA champion Maryland in the Pacific Coast Lax Shootout. That game will be played at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Saturday, March 24. The 7 p.m. PST start (10 p.m. EST) will feature the 2016 and 2017 national champions as Carolina won two years ago and the Terrapins last year.
Carolina will finish out the 2018 campaign with four successive ACC games – at Duke, home with Virginia, at Syracuse and home with Notre Dame. The 2018 ACC Tournament is in Charlottesville, Va. hosted by the University of Virginia. Semifinals are April 27 and the championship game is April 29.
Television details for the Tar Heels' 2018 schedule will be announced at a later date.
