Tar Heels Move Into Top 5 In The Polls

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina moved into the top five of both major national polls released on Monday afternoon. After a 78-73 win at then-No. 20 Tennessee on Sunday, the Tar Heels are ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll and No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches poll.  Carolina was ranked No. 7 in both polls last week.
Carolina has been ranked in 884 AP polls, most in college basketball history. That includes 665 weeks in the top 10, second-most in history behind Kentucky.  The 2017-18 campaign marks the 55th season (out of 70) the Tar Heels have been ranked in the top 10 by the AP.

Carolina will host Wofford on Wednesday night in the Smith Center. Tickets are available here. The Tar Heels will then play Ohio State on Saturday afternoon in New Orleans in the CBS Sports Classic.
