CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Anthony Brock, now in his fourth year as a member of the UNC rowing staff, has been promoted to the position of assistant head coach. He has served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator since joining the staff in the summer of 2014.
"Anthony has made a significant impact on our program over the last three-plus years," UNC head coach Sarah Haney said. "In addition to successfully revamping our recruiting process and producing outstanding results, he has consistently led the novice program to success in the classroom and on the water. I appreciate his commitment and work ethic and am pleased to see him receive this promotion."
Brock oversees the Tar Heel novice program, recruiting and coaching the Tar Heels' first-year rowers and coxswains. During his time at Carolina, he has filled a number of other roles, coordinating the team's travel planning, compliance and equipment needs, in addition to other duties.
"Being a part of the Carolina Athletics family has been an amazing experience," Brock said. "I've learned so much from being surrounded by the UNC head coaches, and I have a deep appreciation for the support the University provides its student-athletes. Carolina is everything that a young athlete could want, so it's a phenomenal place to recruit to as we continue to build our program and strengthen our tradition. Based on our results, I know that's working. I appreciate the confidence that Sarah has in my abilities."
After a successful fall, the Tar Heels will begin winter training on Jan. 2 and open spring racing on March 10 in Clemson, S.C., against Atlantic Coast Conference rivals Clemson and Duke.
