GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five members of head coach Joe Breschi's 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference men's lacrosse championship team headline the All-ACC Academic Men's Lacrosse Team as announced Tuesday by Commissioner John Swofford.Â

Senior midfielder Stephen Kelly of Lutherville, Md., and senior defenseman Austin Pifani of Roslyn, Pa., were both named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third time in their careers as Tar Heels. Both graduated in May with Kelly earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and Pifani meriting a bachelor's degree in media and journalism. Both Kelly and Pifani were also named U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-Americas following their senior campaigns.

Three Tar Heels were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the first time. Senior attackman Luke Goldstock of Niskayuna, N.Y. (management and society graduate), senior defenseman Jack Lambert of Cross River, N.Y. (economics graduate) and sophomore attackman Andy Matthews of Baltimore, Md. (business administration major) earned first-time honors.

All five of the league's men's lacrosse programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, which includes 12 student-athletes that earned USILA All-America honors in 2017. Eight members of the ACC All-Academic Team were named USILA Scholar All-Americans.

 Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
