Duncan & Burston Advance To Three-Meter Diving Finals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Greg Duncan and Sean Burston of the University of North Carolina have advanced to the three-meter diving finals at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of the Ohio State University Wednesday afternoon as the 2017 USA Diving National Championships held its 10th day of competition.
Grayson Campbell of Longhorn Aquatics will be the top seed in the men's 3-meter final after constructing a score of 385.85 in the semifinal. The finals of the event are scheduled for Friday, August 11.
Joey Cifelli of Purdue University came in second in the semifinal with 368.90 points after finishing 16th in the quarterfinal. Greg Duncan (Dominion Dive Club) took third in the semifinal, scoring 366.10 points. Duncan is an incoming freshman at the University of North Carolina. So far during these national championships, he has won a gold and bronze in the 16-18 age group and a silver in the senior level competition of one-meter diving.
Tar Heel rising junior Sean Burston, representing North Carolina Diving, and a native of Connecticut, also qualified for the finals on Friday. He placed 11th in the semifinals of three-meter diving with a scoring of 323.70 points. The top 12 divers in the semifinal advanced to the finals.
Day 11 of competition at the 2017 USA Diving National Championships includes: men's 10-meter quarterfinal, women's 3-meter quarterfinal, men's 10-meter semifinal and women's 3-meter semifinal. Competition starts at 9:00 a.m. ET. UNC sophomore divers Bryan Allen and Max Jenkins are competing in the 10-meter platform competition.
Allen finished fourth in the preliminary/quarterfinal with a score of 336.75 while Jenkins was 16th in the prelim/quarterfinal with a score of 221.50 points.
The 2017 USA Diving National Championships is part of the 2017 Team USA Summer Champions Series, presented by Comcast. The Champions Series showcases numerous Olympic sports throughout the season, highlighting the year-round quest of Team USA athletes to compete at the Olympic Games.
