Moffitt Moves Into Finals Of 100 Fly At WUG

Seeded second going into championship final.
TAOYUAN CITY, CHINESE TAIPEI - University of North Carolina swimmer Hellen Moffitt has moved into the championship final of the 100-meter butterfly the 2017 World University Games during competition in morning and evening sessions Wednesday. Competition is being held at the National Taiwan Sport University Swimming Pool.
Moffitt, a 2017 UNC alumna, is swimming her second individual event at the biannual international event after competing in the 50-meter butterfly earlier in the week. She turned in two outstanding swims in the 100-meter butterfly Wednesday. In the preliminaries, she placed second in the event with a time of 58.93. She came back in Wednesday's evening session and again placed second in the event by going more than six tenths faster at 58.32 during the semifinals. She is the #2 seed in the event going into Thursday's final which includes an eight-swimmer field. The top seed is Elena di Liddo of Italy at 57.94.
Also on Tuesday night at the WUG, UNC rising senior Caroline Baldwin competed in the championship final of the 100-meter freestyle where she took eighth place with a time of 55.35 seconds.
