Nguyen Begins LPGA Qualifying School Thursday

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Senior Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, Md.) begins the LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 Thursday in her first attempt to qualify for the LPGA and Symetra Tours. The 72-hole stroke play competition will take place at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. through Sunday, Aug. 27. Recent graduates Leslie Cloots and Rachel Jones will join Nguyen in the competition.
Nguyen, Cloots and Jones will compete to advance on to LPGA Qualifying School Stage II, which will take place at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Fla. the week of Oct. 16-22. The field of 362 players will be a cut after 54 holes to the top 125 players and ties. After the final round of Stage I the top 90 and ties after 72 holes will advance to Stage II.
The Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying School is Nov. 27-Dec. 3 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The top 20 finishers at Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying School earn LPGA Tour membership.
Players that finish 54 holes this week in Rancho Mirage will earn Symetra Tour membership.
Play will begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. all four days of competition. The players will rotate through the three courses (Dinah Shore, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player) at Mission Hills over the first three rounds and the final-round will be contested on the Dinah Shore Course.
