Stewart Named To PFF All-America Team

North Carolina senior cornerback M.J. Stewart was named to the Pro Football Focus Preseason All-America first team, the website announced this week. Stewart, a 6-0, 205-pound native of Arlington, Virginia, led the team with 11 pass breakups and finished sixth with 59 tackles as a junior. Stewart ranks third all-time at UNC with 29 pass breakups, including 25 over the last two seasons. He was an honorable-mention All-ACC selection in 2016.
PFF honored Stewart as the top slot corner in the nation, noting in July that the senior "...when covering the slot...allowed a passer rating of just 54.4, the fourth lowest mark in the nation last season."
In addition to the All-America honor, Stewart and offensive tackle Bentley Spain were both first-team All-ACC picks by PFF.
