Tar Heel Town Moves to Polk Place
Tar Heel Town, presented by Publix, the family-friendly pregame event with kid's games, entertainment and food, is moving back to its original location at Polk Place, just in front of Wilson Library. Tar Heel Town has something for every Tar Heel fan: music, food, giveaways and family activities including face painting, inflatable games and more. Tar Heel Town is the place to be to listen LIVE to the Bojangles' Countdown to Kickoff pregame radio show with Dave Nathan and special guests, starting two hours prior to kickoff. Don't forget to catch the UNC Marching Tar Heels' special performance one hour before every home game before heading to Kenan Stadium to cheer the Heels on to victory!
Victory Walk
A Carolina tradition, the Victory Walk takes place two and a half hours prior to kickoff and is your chance to be up close and personal with the football team as they make their way through the Kenan Amphitheatre to Kenan Stadium. Grab a prime location along the route to guarantee your chance to see your favorite Tar Heel!
New Chairback Sections
For the 2017 season, Carolina Athletics is introducing individual chair back seating in sections 110 and 111 as phase one of a Kenan Stadium fan enhancement project. The 22-inch-wide Carolina Blue individual seats will provide fans with more room and comfort on game days. "We're excited to take this step in improving the fan experience at Kenan Stadium," says Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham. "The individual seats will provide our fans better comfort and enhance the seating area." To purchase season tickets in these sections, click here.
New and Improved Concessions
• Prices for all concession items will remain the same as during the 2016 season!
• Again in 2017, Aramark Sports & Entertainment provides all Carolina Athletics concessions, including inside Kenan Stadium. Many of your game day favorites from the past, including Coca-Cola products, Bojangles', Chick-fil-A and Ben & Jerry's, will be available for purchase.
• We will continue to offer some great local favorites that will bring the fun and flavor of Chapel Hill straight to Kenan Stadium. Those include offerings from Al's Burger Shack (Section 112) and Italian Pizzeria III (Section 115) as well as the famous BLT from Merritt's Store and Grill. Merritt's will now have locations on both sides of the stadium, across from sections 103 and 121.
• Kayem Hot Dogs will now be the official hot dog of Kenan Stadium.
• Fans will have a new frozen treat option with the addition of IceByrd frozen yogurt at multiple locations on both sides of the Kenan concourse.
Enhanced LED Board Information
• The LED video displays that circle the lower bowl of Kenan Stadium will have two upgraded features in 2017. First, closed captioning will be provided on the LED boards to enhance accessibility for all visitors. Additionally, scores and statistical updates from around the country will help keep fans informed of developments in other games that week.
Special Recognitions
Throughout the 2017 home schedule, we will recognize and celebrate some of our most successful teams and student-athletes. Special game themes/recognitions are scheduled for the following games, but keep an eye on GoHeels.com for more throughout the season:
With the first two home games set for early kickoff times, Carolina Athletics has partnered with WaterMonster to provide enhanced hydration stations to keep fans cool and hydrated. Look for those near sections 100 and 131 on game day.
Field Construction
With the construction of new indoor and outdoor athletics facilities on central campus this year, Carolina is practicing in Kenan Stadium for the 2017 season. Fans will immediately notice the installation of turf surrounding the playing field in place of the tarmac and hedges. While the turf will allow the football team extended areas for practice, it will no longer permit fans to come down out of the stands during halftime. As in recent years, fans will be permitted to come down to the field following the final home game of the season.
