Pieters Named ACC Co-Offensive Player Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina's Jelani Pieters and Wake Forest's Brandon Servania have been named ACC Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Boston College's Younes Boudadi was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week.
Pieters scored three goals and assisted on another goal during a weekend sweep of No. 12 Providence and Rutgers to open the 2017 campaign. He opened his scoring account on Friday against the Friars with his first collegiate goal that also turned out to be the game winner for the Tar Heels. The redshirt sophomore added two more goals and an assist, and was dragged down in the box that resulted in a converted penalty against Rutgers on Sunday. In all, the Oswego, Illinois, native played a direct hand in five of the 10 goals scored by Carolina in the two matches.
Playing in his first collegiate game, Servania was involved on each of Wake Forest's first four goals against Rutgers on Friday, scoring the first two (including the game-winner) and providing the lone assist on the next two as the Demon Deacons rolled to a 5-1 win. On Sunday against No. 12 Providence, the freshman from Birmingham, Alabama, tallied two more assists in a 4-1 win. With four assists, Servania has already matched the team high from a season ago, as he recorded eight points in just 103 minutes of action.
Boudadi was a key cog in in a historic defensive effort for the Eagles on opening weekend. The sophomore from Ypres, Belgium, started both games and played 162 minutes as Boston College beat Quinnipiac and Boston University by identical 4-0 scores, marking the first back-to-back shutouts for the program since 2014 and the first to open a season since 1978. On Friday, Boudadi helped hold Quinnipiac's leading scorer Eamon Whelan without a shot, and helped the Eagle defense limit the Terriers to just three total shots on Sunday. Boudadi also chipped in offensively, recording three assists on the weekend, including setting up both game-winning goals.
