NORFOLK, Va. --- Carolina hits the road for the first time in 2017 when the Tar Heels visit Foreman Field to face Old Dominion Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Carolina fell to 0-2 on the year with last week's 47-35 loss to No. 17/16 Louisville. Quarterbacks Brandon Harris and Chazz Surratt combined to complete 29 of 37 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns in the game, and senior Austin Proehl established career highs of eight catches and 120 receiving yards.
Old Dominion is 2-0 after a scrappy 17-7 win at UMass last week. The Monarchs recorded a school-record eight sacks and limited UMass to just 332 yards of total offense in the victory. Jonathan Duhart scored his 19th career touchdown to help ODU stay undefeated on the year.

ROAD OPENERÂ
• Carolina has won back-to-back road openers - last year's victory at Illinois and the 2015 win at Georgia Tech.
• Last season, UNC scored a convincing 48-23 win in Champaign. Mitch Trubisky completed 19 of 24 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Tar Heels pulled away in the fourth quarter to rout the Illini. Elijah Hood added a pair of rushing scores, including a 62-yarder late.
• In 2015, Marquise Williams led the Tar Heels to their biggest comeback in program history when Carolina rallied from 21-0 down to beat Georgia Tech 38-31 in Atlanta. Williams tossed a pair of touchdowns and caught another from Quinshad Davis in the victory, which sparked a perfect 8-0 ACC season.
CAROLINA-ODUÂ SERIES NOTES/CONNECTIONS
• Saturday will be just the second meeting between Carolina and Old Dominion on the gridiron.
• UNC won the only previous matchup 80-20 in Chapel Hill in 2013. The Tar Heels led just 14-13 after one quarter, but outscored the Monarchs 35-0 in the second quarter. T.J. Logan returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and Ryan Switzer scored three times, including a 64-yard punt return for a score. The punt return TD was his fourth in three games, tying an NCAA record for consecutive games with a punt return score.
• The 80 points scored established a new school record and were two shy of the ACC record for points in a game.
• The Tidewater region of Virginia has long been a fertile recruiting ground for Carolina. A short list of Tar Heels from the area includes NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor (Williamsburg), two-time ACC Player of the Year Mike Voight (Chesapeake), two-time All-America defensive tackle William Fuller (Chesapeake), linebacker Dwight Hollier (Hampton), four-time 1,000-yard back Amos Lawrence (Norfolk), three-time first-team All-America cornerback Dre' Bly (Chesapeake) and record-setting quarterback Ronald Curry (Hampton).
