Sanford Reaches #OracleITAMasters Semis

MALIBU, California - Freshman Alle Sanford won a pair of singles matches on Friday to reach the semifinals of the Oracle ITA Masters, hosted by Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine University.
Sanford, the sixth seed, has not surrender a set in three matches thus far in the event. She began the day winning, 6-4, 6-4, over 11th-seed Eva Marie Voracek of Loyola Marymount. She finished up the night with a 6-3, 6-3, win over #54 and third seed Samantha Harris of Duke.
Sanford is scheduled to face No. 13 and 10th-seed Mayar Sherif Ahmed of Pepperdine on Saturday.
Eighth seed and fourth ranked Sara Daavettila got off to another slow start in her first match of the day, dropping the first set, but stormed back to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-3, over #29 [9] Andrea Lazaro of Florida International.
She played brilliant tennis in her nightcap against No. 1 ranked and top seed Ena Shibahara of UCLA. Daavettila went three sets, but was unable to overcome the top collegiate player in the country in falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
In mixed doubles, fifth seeded Sanford and Billy Griffith lost, 6-3, to the 12th-seeded combination of Laura Gulbe (Pepperdine and Michael Geerts (Arizona State) in the quarterfinals.

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - Sophomore Makenna Jones picked up a singles victory in Flight 1 and earned a pair of doubles wins playing with Chloe Ouellet-Pizer on Friday at the Furman Fall Classic.
Jones, ranked No. 65 nationally, picked up a three-set win, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, over Mississippi State's Magda Adaloglou.
She will face No. 47 Christina Rosca of Vanderbilt on Saturday at 11 a.m.
