CHAPEL HILL—The North Carolina basketball team began its preseason conditioning program this week while also continuing its work in the weight room with strength and conditioning coordinator Jonas Sahratian. The annual Carolina Mile is scheduled for Sept. 25, completing what's annually one of the most rigorous months for Tar Heel players. That is sometimes especially true for freshmen unaccustomed to the demands of the college game.
The Tar Heels also held their photo day this week on Wednesday, spending part of the afternoon taking photos, recording video in front of a green screen and shooting behind-the-scenes features to be highlighted online and in social media throughout the fall and 2017-18 season. Here are some of the latest Tar Heel hoops news you may have missed over the last week.
1. NEWS & NOTES
• The 2016-17 Tar Heels will receive their NCAA championship rings in a special ceremony at halftime of Saturday's football game against Louisville.
• The Carolina Basketball Museum is closed for renovations until Sept. 25. The museum is getting a full makeover to incorporate commemorations and videos of the 2017 national title and much more.
• The Smith Center will be closed from Sept. 28 through Oct. 8 due to the UNC campaign gala in the arena.
• Redemption, the official book chronicling Carolina's run to the 2017 NCAA championship, is available now in ebook format. Preorder the book here.

• Carolina fans can listen to radio broadcasts of Tar Heel games for free via a partnership with TuneIn. The Roy Williams radio show also will be streamed on TuneIn.
• Congrats to the newest Tar Heel in the Carolina coaching tree, David Noel, who is the new head coach at his alma mater, Southern Durham High School.
