CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion North Carolina is ranked ninth in the preseason United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I coaches poll released on January 23, 2018.
Coach Joe Breschi's Tar Heels will play seven of their 14 regular season games against teams ranked in the preseason Top 20 - Maryland, Duke, Denver, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Johns Hopkins and Hofstra.
The preseason Top 20 is as follows:

5. Yale
6. Notre Dame
7. Rutgers
8. Ohio State
9. North Carolina
