Robinson Wins First EAGL of the Week Award

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A sophomore from Chantilly, Va., Mikayla Robinson earned her first ever EAGL Specialist of the Week honors for her performances in Friday's second straight home meet.
After falling short in their season opener against NC State, North Carolina brought home its first team win of the season by defeating Temple 195.300 to 194.375 in Carmichael Arena. The Tar Heels improved 13 individual scores, total scores in three events, and the team's final score.
Robinson kicked off her night by setting a new personal record on vault with a score of 9.800. Missing first by 0.025, she earned fourth-place honors behind teammates Kaitlynn Hedelund, Khazia Hislop, and Madison Nettles who all earned 9.825 for their vaults. Robinson went on to steal the show on floor, earning another career-high score of 9.900 and first-place honors. Friday's competition against Temple marked the first time in Robinson's career that she received scores of at least 9.800 on both floor and vault, and she now holds the second best score on floor in the EAGL conference.
The UNC gymnastics team will face off against Towson University in its first road meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 26th. The competition starts at 7 p.m in Towson, Md.
