Tar Heels Host N.C. State On Saturday

• The Tar Heels play host to NC State on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Dean E. Smith Center.
• Carolina is 16-5 overall, 5-3 in the ACC and 9-1 at the Smith Center this season.
• The Tar Heels are coming off an 80-69 loss at Virginia Tech on Jan. 22nd.Â
• Carolina has scored less than 70 points in three of its five losses and is shooting 10 percentage points lower than the opponents in the five defeats.
• UNC began the week 10th in both the AP and coaches poll. This is the sixth different week the Tar Heels have been ranked in the top 10 in the AP poll this season.
• UNC is ranked in the AP poll for the 889th time in history (most all-time) and the 73rd week in a row.Â

• The 1967-69 Tar Heels are holding a reunion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their historic championship run, and will be honored at halftime on Saturday.
• The 1967-68-69 Tar Heels are the first and only teams in ACC history to win the regular-season title outright and the ACC Tournament in three consecutive seasons.
• The Tar Heels went 81-15 overall and 36-6 in ACC regular-season play from 1967-69.
• These teams were the first three of Dean Smith's 11 Final Fours, 13 ACC Tournament titles and 17 ACC regular-season titles.

• Carolina led 30-24, but the Hokies out-scored UNC, 15-2, to end the first half.
• The Hokies scored 39 points on 34 possessions in the first half, a points per possession of 1.15, which was the third highest in a half by an ACC opponent this year (1.30 in second half by Clemson, 1.21 first half by Florida State).
• The teams combined to make 22 three-pointers – 12 by the Hokies and 10 by UNC.
