No. 25 Carolina Hosts Pitt Friday Night

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 25 North Carolina returns to Carmichael Arena for its first ACC home dual when the Tar Heels host Pittsburgh Friday at 7 p.m. Carolina is 7-8 on the year after a 24-15 win at Virginia last Friday in its league opener. The dual will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra and can be watched on ESPN.com or through the ESPN app.
UNC has faced one of the nation's most challenging schedules this season. Nine of Carolina's 17 opponents are ranked in this week's USA Today/NWCAÂ Coaches poll, including top-10 foes No. 3 Missouri, No. 5 Oklahoma State and No. 8 Arizona State. The Tar Heels have wins over No. 14 Minnesota and No. 16 Nebraska as well as losses on criteria to No. 12 Northern Iowa and No. 18 Rutgers.
Six Tar Heels are listed in this week's InterMat individual weight class rankings, with No. 6 Troy Heilmann leading the way. Heilmann is 23-3 on the year at 149 pounds and 13-2 in duals with wins in seven of his last eight matches. He owns victories over No. 7 Ke-shawn Hayes of Ohio State, No. 8 Max Thomsen of Northern Iowa, No. 11 Colton McCrystal of Nebraska and No. 13 Eleazar Deluca of Rutgers.
The hottest Tar Heel is No. 17 Chip Ness, who has eight straight wins at 184 that include four bonus-point victories during that stretch. No. 16 A.C. Headlee (141), No. 13 Ethan Ramos (174), No. 16 Kennedy Monday (157) and No. 16 Danny Chaid (197) round out the ranked Carolina wrestlers.
Pitt is 2-7 on the year and 0-1 following a 31-6 home loss to Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Panthers feature three ranked competitors - No. 11 Dom Forys (133), No. 16 Ryan Solomon (285) and No. 17 Nick Zanetta (141).
