Heck Earns ACC Academic Honor

Charlie Heck, a sophomore who is majoring in exercise and sport science, has been named to the 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team for football, the league announced Wednesday. The honor recognizes student-athletes from conference schools who excel academically and athletically.

Heck, from Kansas City, Mo., appeared in all 12 games last season and started 11 at offensive tackle for the Tar Heels. He is one of 68 ACC student-athletes named to the All-ACC Academic Team.

To be considered for the honor, conference student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester, as well as a cumulative 3.0 over the course of their college careers.
