As Classes Begin, Season Is One Month Away

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – As spring semester classes start at UNC on Wednesday, the Tar Heel softball team is just one month from opening the 2018 season.
On the weekend of Feb. 9-11, Carolina will join seven other teams in Winter Springs, Fla., for the inaugural Friends of Jaclyn Invitational, hosted by the University of Central Florida. The Tar Heels open play on Feb. 10 against Butler at 11 a.m. and Louisville at 4 p.m. On Feb. 11, they'll play Providence and the host Golden Knights. Also participating are South Alabama, Illinois and North Florida.
The event includes 18 games over three days. All action is set for Soldier's Creek Park. For a full schedule of games, click here.

The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation works to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers by pairing them with collegiate and high school sports teams for support and fun. For more on the foundation, click here.
