Register Leads After 36 Holes at TPC Sawgrass

Celebrates 22nd Birthday with Career Low 65
University of North Carolina senior William Register (Burlington, N.C.) tied his career-low round with an opening 65 and followed that with a 69 to tie for first place after 36 holes at the Sea Best Invitational on Monday.
The Tar Heels are in fifth place at even par, 11 shots behind Arkansas.
Register, who turned 22 on Monday, opened with five birdies and no bogeys to shoot 5 under. He also shot a 65 as a freshman when he won the Primland Collegiate Invitational.
Senior Ben Griffin posted a pair of 69s on Monday and is tied for 10th at 2 under. Preyer Fountain (73-71) and Jose Montaño (74-70) are tied for 40th at 4 over.
Freshman Ryan Gerard shot 67-69 playing as an individual entry and is tied for fourth at 4 under par.
Arkansas shot 2-over-282 in the opening round, then fired a 13-under-267 in the afternoon to take a four-shot lead over South Florida (553). Liberty (554) is third, Tennessee is fourth (558) and the Tar Heels are fifth at 560. UNC is two shots ahead of LSU, nine ahead of East Carolina and 24 clear of Duke.
Register and Liberty's Ervin Chang are knotted at 6-under 134 for the individual lead.
Third and final round action at Pete Dye's Valley Course is Tuesday. The Sea Best Invitational is Carolina's first event of the spring schedule.
