Tar Heels Finish Fifth In BYU At Entrada Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of North Carolina women's golf team shot 13-over-par 301 Tuesday to finish fifth at 22-over par in the BYU at Entrada Classic at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.
Junior Kelly Whaley continued to lead Carolina throughout the final round, shooting three birdies on the day for a 72. She finished the tournament at 2-over-par 218 and in 14th, her highest finish of the year.
Sophomores Mariana Ocano and Brynn Walker both started the day with eagles on hole 1, while Whaley and freshman Ava Bergner birdied the hole. Ocano shot a 77 on the day to finish at 8-over par and tied for 23rd. Bergner and Walker both shot 76 in round three with Bergner tying for 20th overall at 7-over par and Walker tying for 34th at 12-over.
Senior Bryana Nguyen shot an 80 in the final round to finish the tournament in 33rd at 11-over par.
BYU took home the team title in their home tournament by shooting 2-under par in the final round to surpass Kent State on the leaderboard. The Cougars finished at even-par for the tournament. Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State took home the individual crown after leading the competition through all three rounds. She shot a 70 Tuesday to finish at 8-under-par 208.
