Tar Heels Head to Final Round with 2-Stroke Lead
Sophomore Austin Hitt shot a career-low 66 to lead the University of North Carolina to a two-shot lead after two rounds in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club.

Hitt made six birdies and an eagle in his second round, which was 10 shots better than his opening round 76. He is tied for 10th with a 2-under-par 142.

Tar Heel freshman Ryan Gerard is tied for seventh place following his 71-70, 3-under day.

Ben Griffin shot even par and is tied for 14th, Jose Montaño is 1 over and tied for 19th and William Register is tied for 37th at 3 over.

Carolina (288) trailed North Florida (284) by four strokes after the first round. The Tar Heels then shot a 7-under 281 over the second 18 holes to take a two-shot lead over Jacksonville (-5) and three over Liberty (-4).
