Duncan & McBryan Compete This Week
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - The 2017-18 swimming and diving schedule concludes this weekend for the University of North Carolina aquatics program as the Tar Heels send a pair of outstanding student-athletes to the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Action will be held Wednesday-Saturday at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. UNC's participants begin action on Thursday.
A pair of Tar Heels have qualified for the Championships - senior co-captain Michael McBryan in the two breaststroke events and the 200-yard individual medley and freshman diver Greg Duncan in one- and three-meter diving.
Both Tar Heels will be competing in their first ever NCAA Championships.
McBryan finaled in both breaststroke event at the 2018 ACC Championships and reached his first ever podium finish, taking bronze in the 100-yard event. Duncan swept the one- and three-meter diving events at the ACC Championships and was named the most outstanding men's diver at the meet. Duncan finished second in both events at the 2018 NCAA Zone Diving Championships earlier this month in Knoxville, Tenn.
