Hislop Earns Fourth EAGL Specialist of the Week Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Sophomore Khazia Hislop earned her fourth EAGL Specialist of the Week accolade for her performance in Saturday's meet against Pittsburgh. Out of 21 regular season competitions during her career at Carolina, Hislop has earned a total of nine weekly honors: five EAGL Rookie of the Week honors in 2017 and now four EAGL Specialist of the Week honors in 2018.
Hislop placed in the top two for each of her three events, outscored only on beam by senior teammate Morgan Lane who received EAGL Gymnast of the Week honors for her final routines in Carmichael Arena. Hislop's first-place vault score of 9.900 just missed her career-high score by 0.025, and she also earned first-place accolades for matching her personal record of 9.950 on floor. The sophomore finished second on beam with a final tally of 9.925, bringing her average to 9.925 on the afternoon.
In each of her events, Hislop is now nationally ranked in the top 50 gymnasts. After her floor score helped Carolina jump back to a No. 7 national ranking in the event, Hislop is tied for 13th on floor with an RQS of 9.920. She is also tied for 33rd on vault (RQS 9.875) and tied for 48th on beam (RQS 9.875).
Heading into the EAGL Championship, Hislop is ranked first in the EAGL on floor (RQS 9.920) and third on beam (RQS 9.875).
Carolina will take on their EAGL competitors for the conference title on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. EST in Towson, Md.
