Carolina Falls To Georgia Tech, 4-3

CHAPEL HILL - The No. 1 University of North Carolina Women's Tennis Team lost 4-3 to No. 6 Georgia Tech on Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
North Carolina (16-2, 5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) drops its first match to an ACC regular-season opponent in almost a year, ending an 11-match win streak. Georgia Tech improves to 12-3, 4-1 in ACC play on the year.
In doubles play, Carolina dropped the doubles point (2-1) for only the second time this year, the other time being at Miami on March, 16.
On court one, No. 2 Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham topped No. 1 Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones. Aney/Graham got an early break to go up 3-1 and didn't look back, winning the set 6-2. The Yellow Jackets took courts two and three, winning 6-4 on each.
In singles, Georgia Tech picked up wins on courts one, three and five to clinch the match and go up 4-0. The Tar Heels kept fighting, winning the final three matches of the day. No. 103 Chloe Ouellet-Pizer topped Victoria Flores by a score of 6-4, 6-2 to earn the first Carolina victory for the day.
No. 70 Graham continued her dominant year by defeating Ida Jarlskog 7-5, 6-2. Graham improved to 17-0, 6-0 ACC for the year. No. 18 Makenna Jones was quick to follow and defeated Johnnise
Renaud by a score of 6-2, 7-5.
Carolina returns to action against ACC opponent Virginia Tech at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
