Hislop Named All-America On Floor Exercise

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Four days after winning the title of EAGL Champion on floor exercise, Khazia Hislop earned Second Team All-America honors on Wednesday, March 28th for her athletic accomplishments on floor during the 2018 regular season. The sophomore is Carolina's first All-America gymnast since Christine Robella received All-America honors on floor exercise in 2006.
Hislop earned scores of at least 9.900 in seven of her ten regular season appearances, never earning less than 9.800 in the event. She bookended the season with two floor scores of 9.950, setting a new career-high in the season opener and matching that personal best in her last home competition of the year. The sophomore also earned first-place accolades in five competitions and stood on the podium in nine of ten meets.
Hislop finished finished the regular season ranked T-11th nationally on floor exercise with an RQS of 9.930, T-38th on vault with an RQS of 9.875, and T-52nd on beam with an RQS of 9.875.
Selected to compete as an individual specialist on vault, beam, and floor, Hislop will compete alongside teammates Morgan Lane, Madison Nettles, Kaitlynn Hedelund, and Mikayla Robinson at the NCAA Southeast Regional competition in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday, April 7th at 4 p.m.
