Carolina Sits No. 1 For 10th Straight Week

For the 10th consecutive week, the North Carolina women's tennis team sits atop the women's national rankings, as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Men's and Women's Division I National Rankings.
Crowned champions at the 2018 ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championship, North Carolina holds a 22-2 record, with an 11-1 mark in ACC play. The Tar Heels play at No. 4 Duke (19-2, 11-1 ACC) on Friday, and then host Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The winner between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils on Friday in Durham will have the upper hand in garnering the ACC regular season crown and the top seed in the league's championship event that will take place April 25-29 at Cary Tennis Center.Â
In the national doubles rankings, North Carolina has both the top-ranked men's and women's doubles teams, with William Blumberg and Robert Kelly the men's No. 1 team, and Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham the top-ranked women's doubles team.
Alle Sanford and Sara Daavettila slip to 23rd in the doubles listings this week.Â
In singles, sophomore Makenna Jones moved up to No. 11 this week after a pair of victories over nationally-ranked opponents last weekend. Sanford checks in No. 24, Daavettila is No. 40, Aney No. 82, Alexa Graham No. 83 and and junior Chloe Ouellet-Pizer re-entered the rankings at No. 117.Â
Carolina is again the only team in the nation this week to boast six singles players among the top 125.Â
UNC leads a group of six ACC schools in the top 25. North Carolina (1); Georgia Tech (3); Duke (4); Miami (17); Florida State (18) and Virginia (22).
