Pair Of Tar Heels Selected In 2018 MLL Draft

SPARKS, Md. (April 18, 2018) – In a historic night for Major League Lacrosse that included the introduction of a new team owner, a pair of seniors on the 2018 University of North Carolina were taken in the annual Collegiate Draft.
Senior attackman Chris Cloutier of Kitchener, Ontario was taken in the fourth round of the draft by the Denver Outlaws. Cloutier was the 29th pick in the draft. In the sixth round of the draft, senior midfielder William McBride of Baltimore, Md. was taken by the MLL's Atlanta franchise, the Blaze. McBride was the 51st player taken in the draft.
The draft was held at the US Lacrosse headquarters for the first time ever. It also marked the first Collegiate Draft in the month of April.

Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, was founded by Jake Steinfeld and is headquartered in Boston. MLL has led the sport of lacrosse into the mainstream of competitive team sports since 2001. The league is made up of nine teams: The Atlanta Blaze, Boston Cannons, Charlotte Hounds, Chesapeake Bayhawks, Dallas Rattlers, Denver Outlaws, Florida Launch, New York Lizards and Ohio Machine.
The 2018 North Carolina men's lacrosse team concludes its regular season Saturday at 12 noon against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Kenan Stadium. Cloutier and McBride of two of 13 Tar Heel seniors who will be honored in pregame ceremonies.
