April 23, 2018 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL – University of North Carolina junior forward Luke Maye has entered the 2018 NBA Draft process. He will not hire professional representation at this time.
Â
The Huntersville, N.C., native earned first-team All-ACC and third-team All-America honors in 2017-18, averaging 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He was the ACC's Most Improved Player after increasing his scoring average by 11.4 points per game from his sophomore to junior seasons.
Â
"This is a great opportunity for Luke," says UNC head coach Roy Williams. "This is what the system is designed to do, which is provide players with an opportunity to workout with NBA teams and get feedback from those teams. Our staff will support Luke and will do whatever we can to help him throughout this process."
Â
Maye scored 30 or more points three times, including a career-high 33 at NC State, had 17 double-doubles, and led UNC in rebounding, field goals (251), three-point field goal percentage (.431) and blocked shots (38). He was second in the ACC in field goals and rebounding, and seventh in scoring and field goal percentage (.486).
Â
Maye earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2017 NCAA South Regional and was a member of Carolina's 2017 national championship team.
