Rachel Stratton joined the UNC Sports Medicine staff in April 2013. She works closely with UNC's varsity athletic teams, providing sports nutrition education, nutrition counseling, and meal planning assistance.
Rachel Stratton holds a BS in Life Science from the University of Portland in Portland, Ore., where she was also a varsity athlete and team captain on the women's basketball team. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, she discovered a passion for sports nutrition and a desire to help collegiate athletes with the life skills of fueling for performance. In doing so, she hopes to promote a culture of moderation, balance and kindness in university athletic departments.
Rachel completed a didactic program of dietetics at Middle Tennessee State University before completing her dietetic internship and Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Nutrition at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. Rachel is credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) as well as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
Prior to coming to UNC, Rachel Stratton served as a Sports Dietitian at the University of Oregon, primarily responsible for basketball, volleyball, tennis, softball, track and field, cross country and soccer. She coordinated individualized recovery nutrition plans, conducted body composition and hydration testing as well as provided nutrition education and nutrition counseling for athletes and staff.
