Paul Pogge joined the UNC staff in July of 2012 and serves as Senior Associate Athletic Director.Â
Among his responsibilities are working with group licensing activities and other NIL-related matters, working with the General Counsel's Office on legal issues affecting the Department and overseeing enterprise risk management. Â
Additionally, he oversees UNC’s Finley Golf Course and the UNC men’s golf team. In his time at Carolina, he has also facilitated dozens of football student-athletes’ transitions as they pursue careers in the NFL, overseen ticket operations and ticket sales, served as a representative on two different Uniform Law Commission projects and implemented standardized practices for athletic camps.
Pogge came to UNC from the University of Denver, where he spent three years working in the areas of marketing and development. Among his accomplishments there were developing marketing and community engagement initiatives that led to some of the nation's largest increases in men's basketball attendance and working as part of a change in conference affiliation and the creation of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. He also ran the department's largest fundraiser, the Red Vest Golf Tournament and secured multiple major gifts in a development role, in addition to helping to craft the Athletic Department's Strategic Plan.
Before Denver, he spent a year and a half as a football operations intern for the Arizona Cardinals. He also interned with the Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche.
Born April 23, 1984, in Omaha, Neb., Pogge graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in finance and went on to earn his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School. He earned a Master’s Degree in Technology and Communications from the University of North Carolina, and is also a graduate of the FBI Citizens’ Academy in Colorado. He is the son of Jack and Judy Pogge and has a brother, Michael, and a sister, Patty. A licensed attorney in the state of Colorado, he enjoys basketball, golf, tennis and fishing in his spare time. He lives in Durham with his wife, Krista.
