1955— Albert Long Jr.: Baseball, Football, Men’s Basketball, Men's Track and Field (Durham, N.C.)
Was the second and most recent four-sport letterman in UNC history (John Gray Johnson, Class of 1916 was the other). Played three seasons on the baseball team, two each on football and basketball and ran track for one season. Played defensive back in 1953 and quarterback in 1954. Earned second-team All-ACC honors in baseball in 1955. Plated two seasons as a left fielder and his senior year at shortstop. After graduation he became a second lieutenant in the Air Force. Inducted in 2007 in the National Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions. In 2015, he received The Order of The Long Leaf Pine, the highest honor presented by the governor to outstanding North Carolinians who have a proven record of service to the state.
