1964— Bill Haywood: Baseball, Men's Soccer (Colón, Panama)
Pitched in 10 of UNC’s 14 straight ACC wins in 1964. Hit .306. Went 10-1, with his only loss coming in the College World Series. Went 16-5 in two seasons. Served four years as a Marine before enrolling at UNC. Born in the Panama Canal Zone. Transferred from Wilmington College, where he went 17-3 over two seasons. Also played soccer at UNC and was an All-South Region midfielder. Later pitched for the Washington Senators and was the head baseball coach at Western Carolina and Georgia Southwestern State University. Went on to be a minor league coach for the Senators and Texas Rangers. Served as the field coordinator and assistant player development director for the Seattle Mariners.
