1982— C.D. Mock: Wrestling (Newton, Pa.)
Won Carolina’s first NCAA wrestling championship in 1982. Led the Tar Heels to a fifth-place finish in the 1982 NCAA Championships, the highest finish ever by UNC. Won all 35 matches that season, which he capped by winning the national title at 134 pounds.
Three-time ACC champion (126 pounds in 1977 and 1978 and 134 pounds in 1982) and two-time All-America with a career record of 108-9, a .923 winning percentage that remains the third highest in Carolina history. Went 64-4 in ACC competition.
Place third in the NCAA Championships at 126 pounds in 1979, becoming the first Tar Heel wrestler to earn All-America honors.
Was the head coach of the Tar Heels from 2003-15.
